Bill Yount’s Foreword

Imagine yourself in the shoes of Nik Wallenda of the famed “Flying Wallendas,” walking a tight rope over the Grand Canyon. There is no safety net. Dreadful questions begin to arise. “What were you thinking? Who do you think you are, challenging the forces of nature?”

Bill Yount

At 1500 feet above the canyon, these thoughts couldn’t stop you. You remained focused on walking out your lifelong dream. With each step, the one dominating thought seeded in your mind years ago absolutely girded your feet to the two inch high wire. You were walking out your thoughts. “I can do this. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

The first thought that conceived your historic dream came with doubts flooding your mind. But you stood your ground. You knew you were always just one thought away from fulfilling your destiny. That dream was from God. He believes in you. You began to prepare in the natural by training on tight ropes under violent weather patterns—patterns you would likely face during this outrageous event. You refused to give negative thoughts any entrance into your mind.
Your thoughts would take you over the Grand Canyon a thousand times before your feet ever touched the actual high wire.

What about you? What are you thinking? Who do you think you are? Do you have limiting mindsets, or do you think you can do all things through Christ? Before God spoke the world into existence, He thought about it. Before God created you, you were in His thoughts. He thought you up! “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart” (Jeremiah 1:5). He loved you perfectly before you were conceived. You are His dream come true. And you were then born to create your own dream.

What thought will cause you to walk out your dream as the world looks on and wonders, “Who do you think you are?”
